Course Summary
This half day course is aimed at employees with a designated fire safety role in the workplace.
Delegates’ knowledge and skills are developed and updated to allow them to continue to undertake their roles and responsibilities as Fire Wardens.
The course material and handouts are used in conjunction with the Department for Communities, Local Government (DCLG) Fire Safety Guides and the current legislation.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for experienced fire wardens to maintain and develop their performance as designated fire safety officers.Delegates must have previously attended SOA Safety Fire Warden Course or equivalent. Although not essential, experience of performing the roles of a fire warden in the workplace is an advantage.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course you should be able to:
- have an awareness of relevant fire safety law
- knowledge and skill to identify and address typical fire safety concerns in the workplace
- ability to identify and address typical issues about people’s attitudes to workplace fire safety, e.g. their response to alarms
- ability to identify and address typical shortcomings in people’s performance relating to workplace fire safety, e.g. the reporting of defects or concerns
- knowledge and skill in the identification and operation of a range of portable fire extinguishers
Programme
The course content will cover:
- changes in legislation and responsibilities
- review the role of the fire warden
- typical problems experienced by fire wardens
- human behaviour
- hazard identification
- fire drills & evacuation
- understanding & dealing with the changing risk
Certification
On successful completion of the course delegates will receive a nationally recognised IFE certificate
