The Certificate consists of 2 units which are assessed separately. Unit EC1 the Management and Control of Environmental Hazards and is assessed by a 2 hour written examination. Unit EC2 the Environmental Practical Application requires candidates to carry out an environmental review of their workplace and produce a justified action plan to improve performance. This course is run over one week with five tutor lead sessions and approximately 33 hours of private study and background reading. The course covers the practical issues of managing environmental risk. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on the best practice and international industry standards.
