NHS Manchester benefits from SOA Safety Fire Safety Training

NHS Manchester Primary Care Trust (PCT) Estates department is responsible for a
broad range of premises – including offices, general practice surgeries, dentists,
hospitals and residential care premises. Given the number of NHS employees and high
number of public visitors that use these premises, communicating the potential fire
safety hazards and how to reduce them is a high priority. This led to the PCT contacting
us in relation to delivering a series of fire safety courses.
Under a contract awarded in 2009, SOA developed a tailored package of training for
over 2000 NHS staff and delivered it over 20 locations throughout Manchester.
Delivered by dedicated SOA trainers during 2009 and early 2010, the fire safety
courses were based on NHS policy and procedures, and was updated periodically based
on the findings at each site the course was presented.
The aim of the course was to develop staff awareness of fire, potential hazards,
and emergency responses and fire fighting. Delegates were provided with the underpinning
knowledge needed to reduce the likelihood of fire at their workplace.
