Evonik in Maryport, have been using our trainers to deliver health and safety training,
including fire awareness, fire warden, breathing apparatus, and confined space for
some time. Following the success of these courses, Evonik approached us to put together
a bespoke Incident Command and Control course for their Flimby site.
Emphasis on site specific hazards
In designing the course we looked at the site’s specific operational documentation,
undertook a training needs analysis to determine the staff’s current knowledge of
procedures, reviewed the roles and duties and analysed the hazards and appropriate
emergency responses.
The final deliverable, presented by SOA trainers, was a two day course delivered
on site. The first day was classroom based focusing on theory, the principles and
table-top exercises. The second day was a practical simulation utilising not only
the delegates on the course but also other site staff together with simulated response
of external involvment, i.e. emergency service.
Tony Bell, Manager at Flimby Site comments:
“All employees who attended the course commented on the high standard of training
given, and the presentation was enjoyable. However, the incident command and control
was exceptional in that the delegates were able to relate it to their own work situation
in a practical manner which they could understand and appreciate.”
