Our safety engineering team includes consultants with scientific, engineering, software, MoD and fire-service backgrounds. Using approaches and best practices from each discipline we are able to provide modern techniques with a professional service.

Andy Anderson MD CEng FIET

Director & Principal Safety Consultant

Highly experienced safety consultant / project manager. Over 25 years Project Management, Engineering and Safety Management experience, within the marine, defence, nuclear, commercial and fire safety sectors. Project manager on high-profile safety cases. Providing conscientious and enterprising engineering with sound interpersonal and communication skills. A proven track record in motivating and leading a professional team and as operating as a team member in a multi-disciplinary workforce.

Past experience has enabled swift adaptation and flexibility to ensure optimum performance. Skilled at prioritising, problem solving under pressure and well practiced at enabling the team to achieve and surpass personal, team and business targets.

Highly experienced safety consultant / systems engineer. 20 years systems and software engineering on large-scale critical systems in the marine, defence, nuclear, aerospace, telecoms and fire safety sectors. Lead author on high-profile safety cases. Proven ability as team-leader and safety analyst. Background in engineering process improvement and technology transfer.

Jim’s consultancy work is currently shared between the ship safety case for the Astute Class of submarines being built in Barrow-In-Furness and the nuclear reactor shutdown safety case being done in Derby.

Director & Principal Safety Consultant

Over six years engineering experience; covering software, safety and fire disciplines. For the past three years, has undertaken a role as Fire Safety Engineer for SOA Safety, where roles have ranged from fire risk assessments of large places of assembly, to fire dynamics of nuclear installations.

Extensive knowledge and skills in the preparation of safety cases, probabilisitic safety assessments, performance based studies and other aspects of general engineering.

Specialises in the application of fire dynamics and the development and implementation of software tools to meet the demands of highly regulated (and varying) environments.
